For pleasure not profit.

The dominant platforms optimize for profit, not connection. Grindr hammers us with ads to sell expensive premium subscriptions. Sniffies just sold itself out to a greedy dating app monopoly. Both put profit before the community.
It doesn't have to be this way. Meetmarket is designed for and by you, fueling hot encounters and a network of interesting new friends. Together, we are creating something based on trust, rather than lonely hookups for corporate greed.
Our prototype went viral last April. Over 60,000 people signed up to our minimal website. This campaign funds the next year of development and a full app in the stores — with a clear plan for member governance and reinvestment into the IRL spaces that make queer culture worth fighting for.
Are you hungry for an alternative?
Are you willing to help it become real?

Meet freaks who already know what good sex is. A grid that's ready for action.

Join a self-selecting and engaged network for cultural exchange and fun.

Online chatrooms, plus meetups and parties, bring together open-minded groups looking to explore.
Meetmarket is a self-supporting community based on the buy-in of its members at an affordable monthly rate, starting at 12 euros. While other apps clog you with ads unless you pay, we provide an un-enshittified community space you actually want to be a part of.
Our community is verified horizontally to keep out the bots, catfishers, and timewasters. Building out from a core network of friends in Berlin, Meetmarket is a self-selecting, international network that you can trust.
Hookup apps are good at hollowing scenes out. While meeting in the app is the start, connecting IRL, in places we collectively keep alive, is the point. Through in-app channels, groups, event listings plus IRL interest-based meetups and parties, Meetmarket is designed to build a scene, not kill one.
A share of subscription revenue funds the bars, parties, bookshops, and art spaces that make a scene what it is. The Scene Fund is how we put money back into the community spaces that hold queer life together. Founding members will help decide where the Scene Fund goes. Allocations are public. Reporting is public. We aim to direct 15–20% of revenue into the scene over five years, starting with Berlin and extending city by city as membership grows.
Founding members have the opportunity to input on a range of sexy matters, from the app’s name and branding to new software updates. Meetmarket is also structured to prevent changes not in the community’s interest, such as a sale to an extractive buyer. These guarantees are detailed in the FAQ below, ensuring our long-term commitment to you.
During our initial crowdfunding period, you have the one-time opportunity to become a Meetmarket founding member. As a founding member, you will steer the direction and development of the app through an exclusive chat and regular development updates. You will be invited to vote on major branding, software, and community decisions, including the allocation of The Scene Fund. As a collective, the founding members will retain a golden share to block certain changes in the app’s company structure such as a sale to an extractive buyer.

I started Meetmarket because I wanted a hookup app that me, my friends, and my community would actually enjoy using. Why are they all so shit, tacky and cringe? We deserve an app that doesn't only see us as products to be sold to advertisers or straight billionaires.
With no help or funding, I launched the Meetmarket prototype at the end of March expecting 300 people to test it. I was gagged when 15k of you showed up in 24 hours. Six weeks later over 60k people have signed up. Now I know how hungry for an alternative you are. This crowdfund is how I'm going to build the app we deserve.
I've been obsessed with digital platforms for 20 years. In high school I ran an anonymous gossip site inspired by Gossip Girl that was popular enough to earn me a cease and desist from the town police.
Since then, I've been asking who decides what gets built, for who, and why. My undergrad thesis in Anthropology was on Google. I'm now doing a PhD on how technology organises society.
I'm also a designer and builder. At Strelka Institute, I developed alternatives to ad-funded platform economics. At Black Swan DAO, I spent three years building voting tools and running governance simulations that put people inside real decision-making instead of just reading about it. I've led participatory design workshops at New Inc, HEK Basel, CTM, and Gray Area, helping communities prototype their own institutions. And I co-founded Trust.support e.V., a Berlin 'network of utopian conspirators' with over a thousand members that runs Quests, a year-long fellowship for people building alternative technologies and institutions.

"The Silicon Valley homofascists want to fuck us. They are hustling us into sharing hole pics and access to our data, our digital dna. This is how we speed run to dystopia…Meetmarket feels like a chance to opt out before it's too late."
"Queer folks need a digital playground free of surveillance, data harvesting and profit-driven incentives that only benefit shareholders without actually improving its goals of connection. meetmarket seems to be the most promising solution to this. I'm excited to see how this product continues to grow and connect others."
"Quality, quantity and the right amount of ethics!"
"We need to meet. And we need to meat. Why not do both at the same time?"
"It's rare to find an app that's both sexy and grounded in real values that protect us as users. I'm thankful Meetmarket has it all!"
"We need meetmarket for and by the community because the only time I want a c-suite corporate shill near my gay apps is if they're meeting me in a back alley to be dominated like the pigs they are!"
"I couldn't give a fuck about dating apps, but this one is cute, independent and somehow caring."
"I would rather drink Draino and gargle with broken glass than use Gr*ndr or any other tired ass app. The only hope we have left on this earth is Meetmarket."
"Meetmarket isn't for those looking for a quickie with any old flesh. It's for those attuned to specialist cuts, like the finer Halal and Kosher varieties."
"Meetmarket lets you worry less about whose hands your data is in, and lets you focus more on whose hands are in your butt."
