How we handle your data.

Meetmarket is a privacy-first product. We collect the minimum data needed to deliver the service, we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use third-party marketing trackers. This policy explains exactly what we collect and why.

1. Data controller

2. Data we collect

During the crowdfunding campaign

• Name, email, country of residence — provided by you at checkout.
• Payment data — handled by Open Collective via Stripe at checkout. We never receive or store your full card number. We receive only a payment reference, status, and the amount paid.
• Telegram username — only if you provide it for founders community access.
• Shipping address — only for the T-shirt tier.
• Approximate city location — derived automatically from your IP address by Cloudflare at the time of contribution. Stored alongside your subscriber record for fraud prevention and campaign analytics. We do not store your IP address itself.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR Art. 6)

• Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) — providing founders community access, app functionality, and the thank-you benefits associated with your contribution.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — tax records and accounting, retained for 10 years per § 147 AO (German Fiscal Code).
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — fraud prevention, security, and campaign updates to founding members (soft opt-in under § 7 Abs. 3 UWG).

4. Third-party processors

We share data only with processors necessary to deliver the service:

• Open Collective, Inc. (United States) — contribution platform and payment orchestration. Transfer mechanism: EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision.
• Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. (Ireland) — payment processing (used by Open Collective). Stripe processes your payment data under their own privacy policy.
• Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — hosting, CDN, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare processes minimal technical data (IP address, request metadata) to serve the site. Transfer mechanism: EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision.
• Resend, Inc. (United States) — transactional email delivery (payment confirmations, account notifications). Transfer mechanism: EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision.
• Listmonk (self-hosted by Calum Bowden, Germany) — campaign and newsletter email delivery. Data stays on our own infrastructure.
• Telegram (founders community platform). If you join the community, your Telegram username and messages within the group are processed by Telegram FZ-LLC (Dubai). Transfer mechanism: Standard Contractual Clauses. Joining the community is optional.

We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party marketing services. Ever.

5. International data transfers

Where service providers process data outside the EU, we rely on EU adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as noted above. We do not transfer data to jurisdictions without an adequate safeguard in place.

6. Data retention

• Payment and accounting records: 10 years (German commercial/tax law, § 147 AO).
• Email subscriber data: retained while your account is active. Deleted on unsubscribe or deletion request.
• Community participation data: retained while your account is active. Deleted on request.
• Anonymous server logs: 30 days, then deleted.

7. Your rights (GDPR Art. 15–22)

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data.
• Rectify inaccurate data.
• Erase your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restrict processing.
• Port your data to another service.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (Berlin Data Protection Authority).

8. Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral profiling, or third-party tracking scripts.

• Cloudflare technical cookies (__cf_bm) — set automatically by Cloudflare for bot protection. These are strictly necessary, expire within 30 minutes, and do not track you across sites.
• Analytics — we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is fully GDPR-compliant without a consent banner. We collect no other analytics data.

That's it. No advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels, no fingerprinting. We believe your browsing behaviour is none of our business.

9. Security

All web traffic is served over HTTPS. We never store payment card details.

10. Age

Meetmarket is an 18+ community. We do not knowingly create accounts, accept contributions, or collect personal data from anyone under 18. Account signup requires confirmation that the user is 18 or older.

If you believe a minor has signed up or contributed, please contact us at info@meetmarket.io and we will delete their account and data immediately.

11. Unsubscribe

Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. No reason needed, no hoops to jump through.

12. Changes to this policy

We will notify you by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. The current version is always available at this URL.
